2014- 2015 Awards and Scholarships Nominations 

The National Head Start Association’s Scholarship & Awards Program is open to individual, program and affiliate members of NHSA in good standing. Each scholarship and award provides additional criteria to guide nominations. In many states and regions, NHSA Affiliates may build upon this program with additional scholarship and awards unique to their area. Nominees should review all appropriate guidelines and consult NHSA staff with any questions to ensure successful application. 

Important 2014-2015 Award & Scholarships Deadlines

April 1 – May 31: local program submit nominations to NHSA
June 1 – June 30: State Affiliates review and make recommendations to NHSA
July 1 – July 31: Regional Affiliates review and make recommendations to NHSA
August 1 – September 30: National panel of judges select winners
October 14: 2014 – 2015 Winners announced
April, 2015: NHSA Scholarships and Awards Dinner and Ceremony at NHSA's Annual Head Start Conference

Scholarships and Awards Available from the NeHSA
(Nebraska Head Start Association)

 

 

NeHSA Head Start/Early Head Start Graduates Scholarhip One scholarship of $250 will be available. A letter from the grantee/delegate confirming applicant. Must include a double-spaced typed summary describing personal goals in 300 words or less. Must submit a brief statement of financial need. Three (3) letters of recommendation. Proof of enrollment or proof of acceptance in an institution of higher learning. Typewritten application form. Submit all informations in duplicate. Scholarship winner will be recognized at the NeHSA Conference.
NeHSA Parent Scholarship One Scholarship for $250 will be available. Must be a Head Start/Early Head Start parent in the current year. Must be a member of the NeHSA. Must include a double-spaced typed summary describing personal goals, strides toward self-sufficiency, and your volunteer experiences in the Head Start/Early Head Start program, in 500 words or less. Submit all information in duplicate. Scholarship winner will be recognized at the NeHSA Conference.
NeHSA Staff Scholarship One Scholarship for $250 will be available. Applicant must be a member of NeHSA. The scholarship must be used for classes related to a position within the program. Must submit a typed double-spaced summary, no more than 50 words of personal goals, including plans for furthering their education. Must submit a typed double-spaced statement, no more than 150 words, indicating your beliefs in the Head Start philosophy. Three references: one personal, one professional peer, and one supervisor. Submit all information in duplicate. Scholarship winner will be recognized at the NeHSA Conference.
